Jim Beam Indie Award Winners Announced

On June 11, as part of CMW, the El Mocambo in Toronto hosted the 21st Anniversary of this event that celebrates the artists who inspire the independent spirit, both nationally and internationally.

The 21st Anniversary of the Jim Beam INDIE Awards was held as part of Canadian Music Week on June 11 at the El Mocambo in Toronto. Hosted by Josie Dye from Indie88, and part concert, part award show, the event was a celebration of new music and the artists who inspire the independent spirit, both nationally and internationally. Performing were Bran Van 3000, Coeur de Pirate, Dear Rouge, Grae, Haviah Mighty, SATE, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, and 2021 Jim Beam National Talent Search winner Richard Tichelman.

Billboard Canada FYI Bulletin: Deadmau5 Celebrates 25 Years at The Hollywood Bowl

– Canadian beats artist-producer Joel Zimmerman, professionally known as deadmau5, is celebrating a quarter century as a performer. The mouse-headed superstar kicked off his “retro5pective: 25yrs of Deadmau5” tour with his first headlining show at the Hollywood Bowl. By all accounts, it was an impressive show that included numerous guest artists and a finale with Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee joining the headlining star at the mixing console.

In keeping with the colourful character, he has also launched an “ultra-limited” toy line withToyMak3RS “commemorating 25 years of musical innovation.”
